we’re at the last song on ‘L’appel Du Vide (Part 1)’!
and of course, it’s sad as shiiiit. sorry for emo-ing.
the oldest song on ldv. i wrote this in 2017, about a week after we lost the person it’s about.
i feel like this is a shot at a song for acceptance.
an awareness that ‘acceptance’ is on the horizon, somewhere just slightly out of view - but we’re not there yet?
in the ballpark, i suppose.
it’s a one-take demo that we just didn’t touch.
i was having a glass of wine and a cigarette, sat at my keyboard playing with this weird Rhodes-y synth sound I’d built out. pressed record and i guess this just happened to be the song.
that was it, to be honest.
no mix, no corrections. sent it to master and it was released.
it’s far from my best vocal performance, but we all agreed that if we were to re-record it we’d have no chance of re-capturing that rawness and sincerity.
there was never a ‘proper’ video for this one - somehow didn’t seem right. wanted to just let it be.
